Kousan Choir

Established in 1981 under the leadership of Maestro Edig Hovsepian, the Kousan choir soon became one of the jewels of the Toronto Armenian community. Comprising of more than 100 members, Kousan has toured many parts of North America. Following more than 17 years of dedicated leadership, Maestro Hovsepian retired, at which time the choir went through a period of inactivity.

Today, under the baton of Maestro Hripsime Tovmasian, Kousan is back to being an active participant in many of our cultural events throughout the year, along with annual performances by 60 choir members, usually held in the fall. Armenian classical, folk and national songs make up the concert programs. Noteworthy is the contribution of piano accompanist Vanig Hovhannisian, whose dedication dates back to decades and continues to this day.

Hye Asdgher choir

The Hye Asdgher youth choir was founded upon the arrival of Maestro Tovmasian. Membership is open to children ages 4 and up. The choir has over 50 members and is divided into three groups, according to age brackets. Participants learn to sing a variety of songs, thereby enhancing their vocal abilities; the programs include classical, folk and national songs of various degrees of difficulty. Practices are held weekly, and the annual concert in the summer.
