The Cambridge Datev chapter was founded in 1976, in response to the growing need of a cultural organization in the community. Since then, the Datev chapter has been an active presence in Cambridge. Most recently, several young members of the community have become very involved in the Cambridge Datev affairs, thus breathing new life into the Hamazkayin mission locally.
Activities of the Cambridge Datev Chapter include
- Public lectures covering a variety of topics related to Armenian culture and identity.
- Maintaining the Varich and Shakeh Buzbuzian Library and the adjunct Hamazkayin Bookshop at the Community Centre.
- Hosting performances by visiting artists and troupes from other Canadian cities.
- Presenting the cultural portion of programs of community events.
